Welcome to Brookhall Historical Farm and self-catering holidays!
We invite you to visit our Historical Farm near Lisburn in county Antrim, Northern Ireland - please phone to bppk dates or to book holiday accommodation in our elegant self-catering holiday cottages.
View gardens, animals and lake, while enjoying a short walk on the farm, situated in beautiful south county Antrim, 3 miles from Lisburn City.
The main house (not open to the public), which dates back some 400 years, was severely burned in the political turmoils of 1641 and restored around 1750 by the Watson family, who lived in it until 1989.
Brookhall is "Brown Sign-posted"!
Road users in and around Lisburn and Ballinderry will know from the many Brown Tourist road signs that many, if not all, roads lead to Brookhall!
We invite you to our newly restored rustic dining hall (which seats up to 80) where groups visiting the area can stop off for our delicious scones and homemade jam or book a more substantial meal of Brookhall vegetable soup, salads and a range of tasty hot dishes. (Menu and prices available on request.)
Our farm museum presents examples of farm equipment from a bygone era, including potato digger, cake breaker and milk churn.
Common and uncommon farm animals
The farm animals include rare or unfamiliar breeds, like Heather the highland cow. We also have Limousin cattle, Jacob sheep, Vietnamese pot bellied pigs, geese, a donkey and goats, and others.
Tea House, self-catering holiday accommodation
We invite you to our Country farm Tea House where you may have scones with tea or coffee or enjoy our famous home-made vegetable soup, salad and delicious rhubarb and strawberry pie. We offer keenly priced self-catering holiday accommodation and short or long-term letting in our elegant gate lodge cottages.
A building believed to be on or near the the site of a small 12th century place of worship was also burned, but has now been restored and, although no longer used as a church, is available and licensed for weddings.
Residents may also enjoy visiting the nearby picturesque lake-side Georgian village of Hillsborough and the local market village of Moira - frequent winner of "Ulster in Bloom" competitions. |
